Is there a way to stop the giant trees from spawning?

Hi all, made a tree farm recently (just a flat patch of grass with rows of saplings) but I can't stand breaking down the giant sprawly trees that sometimes spawn. The logs are so hard to reach! Is there a way to prevent them from spawning? I'm open to just modding them out if there's nothing I can do otherwise. I'm playing alpha 1.1.2_01

Most tree farms typically have some kind of block ~9 blocks up from the dirt block you plant the tree on. Essentially, if you do not give enough room for a large tree to generate, it will only generate the smaller variants. In my alpha 1.1.2_01 world, I have glass blocks ~9 blocks above each sapling, and I have not had a single large tree generate

Ah ok thanks! I'm not sure how I've never known this in nearly 15 years of playing this game but I'll try it out.
